Origination & Gas Trading Operations Specialist

 Our company seeks an experienced Origination & Gas Trading Operations Specialist to work within the Asset Management & Origination Department. The candidate will join a team of originators that seeks, identifies and captures Origination opportunities in new and existing markets in a variety of energy commodities ( EPİAŞ balancing group products, various asset management products, electricity, gas, cross-commodities etc.) He/She will be responsible to extract value from the gas market in order to optimize the fuel cost of natural gas power plant. The candidate will add to his/her gas market experience a broad experience in optimizing and managing natural gas fired power plants in the electricity market.

 • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or Business Administration,

 • At least 3 years of experience in Turkish gas market and energy market regulations, 

 • Strong verbal & written communication skills in English,

 • Able to take risk and responsibility supported with technical analysis. 

 • Must be proficient in Excel and preferably demonstrate understanding of advanced functionality, 

• Analytical minded, creative, open to changes and good communication skills, 

• Able to work under pressure for fast-paced, time sensitive environment and reporting deadlines (flexible hours required) 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 • Executing trades in the Organized Gas Wholesale Market through the Natural Gas Continuous Trading Platform under the Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST) in order to optimize the generation cost of the Natural Gas power plant

 • Managing the gas capacity allocations, scheduling and imbalances at the National Balancing Point, booking of storage capacity and closely coordinating with the electricity dispatch team in order to extract value from the power balancing market

 • Real time management and dispatching the natural gas power plant of Akenerji in the Intra Day Market under the Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST)

 • Coordinating with EPİAŞ, BOTAŞ, TEIAS and 3rd Party suppliers the scheduling of gas supply and the dispatch of the natural gas power plant, 

• Reporting on realized trades & dispatch P&L

 • Following the regulations of BOTAŞ, EMRA and TEIAS and monitoring on a daily basis electricity supply/demand and bids in the market,

 • Report and analyze to management all relevant energy regulatory changes and impact, lobby for changes via participating in various associations,

 • Work closely with other departments with regards to contracts, settlement and collateral matters involving his/her activities.
